Introduction
The goal of IWVT is to be an important research forum that brings together leading practitioners and researchers about system virtualization, which includes topics such as high-level language virtual machines, virtual machines, instructions translators, VMM emulators, virtual desktop environment and applications. IWVT brings together researchers from the programming languages, operating systems and other areas. To reflect this diversity of backgrounds, in 2008 IWVT will be held in conjunction with the 35th International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA 2008).
Topics

Virtualization technology is one of the most important technologies in the field of computer architecture. It decoupled the underlying physical equipment and the upper operating system, software to decrease the dependence and interference of them, so the IT resources can be utilized with maximum efficiency and flexibility. This workshop solicits high-quality papers to discuss original research results in various areas of computing system virtualization. Topics of interest include:

  • Virtual machines for high-level languages

  • Programming language support for virtualization

  • Compiler support for virtualization

  • Operating system support for virtualization

  • Binary translation and optimization

  • Automatic resource and memory management

  • Virtualization for security and reliability

  • Virtualization technologies for distributed and parallel computing

  • Virtual machine monitors

  • Management technologies for virtual environments

  • Virtualization technologies for desktop applications

  • Applications that use virtualization in novel ways

  • Performance analysis and debugging for virtual execution environments

Papers

We solicit high-quality papers to discuss original research results in various areas of virtualization technologies.

Interested authors should submit a full paper (5000-word or less double-spaced manuscript by 11:59 PM EST, April 20th ) to hjin@hust.edu.cn, hustliaoxf@gmail.com.  All papers will be peer reviewed and selected best papers from the workshop presentation will be included in special issues of Journal of Supercomputing and International Journal of High Performance Computing Applications.
