Dr. Xiong is Associate Professor of Computer Science and deputy head of Network Engineering Division in the School of Computer Science at the China University of Geosciences, Wuhan China. Prior to this, he was a research associate with the School of Computer Engineering at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, under the project COSMOS (Dec.2007-May 2010). He received his Bs.C and Ph.D in Computer Science both from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2002 and 2010, respectively. His research interests include modelling and simulation of large scale of crowd, distributed simulation, and data management in the grid.

Research Associate (12/2007 - 5/2010), School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
Dr. Xiong was an Research Associate under the project COSMOS.  The project is looking at various aspects of modeling, simulation and visualisation of large human crowds for military operations. The project aims to develop an entire framework for agent-based modelling of crowds under a variety of different scenarios. The application of crowd simulation to military scenarios is quite unique but is relevant to planning, training and operational decision making.
