Book Objectives & Mission
The wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), as the one of the top ten emerging technologies for the 21st century (MIT’s Technology Review stated in 2003), is developing at an accelerated pace. Much research work has been done to promote the progress, including the architecture of WSNs, operating systems of nodes, routing protocols, data gathering and fusion, location mechanism and time synchronization, etc. Moreover, this new technology is exciting with numerous application areas including traffic monitoring and controlling, mining and shipping security, environment protection, animal tracking, military Affairs, etc. It is also expected that in 10-15 years the world will be covered with wireless sensor networks, and they will be accessed via the Internet. To view all of these, this volume (s) tries to bring together all the latest developments and excellent studies of the wireless sensor networks, which will provide a seedbed for new breakthroughs.
The primary target audiences of this book are those who are interested in WSNs and related issues including scholars, researchers, developers and postgraduate students. In particular, the book will be valuable companion and comprehensive reference for students who are taking a course in WSNs. To provide greatest reading flexibility, the book will be organized in self-contained chapters.

Important Deadlines
Researchers and practitioners are kindly invited to send an email to wenbinjiang@hust.edu.cn, containing a preliminary title and a 3-6 page manuscript proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of the proposed chapter. We strongly encourage other topics that have not been listed in our suggested list, particularly if the topic is related to the research area in which you have expertise. Upon acceptance of your proposal, you should prepare your chapter of 8,000-10,000 words and 7-10 related terms and their appropriate definitions. Guidelines for preparing your paper and terms and definitions will be sent to you upon acceptance of your proposal. All chapter proposals will be peer reviewed. And all submitted full chapters will be reviewed by at least three reviewers on a double-blind review basis. Important deadlines are:
Publication
This book will be published by IGI Global (IGI). IGI
Global (IGI, Founded in 1987) is an international publishing company
specializing in high-quality research publications in the fields of information
science, technology, and management. Each IGI publication is aimed at aiding
information science and technology professionals in keeping up with emerging
innovations, technologies, and managerial techniques. every IGI book chapters
will be collected in the full-text database InfoSci-Online. More
information regarding the publisher can be seen in http://www.igi-global.com/.
First of all, please make sure that your chapters have been revised according to all reviewers' comments.
Then, according to the IGI GLOBAL CHAPTER FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS (Ref.1), please format your final chapter carefully again. Especially, please make sure that the following issues have been satisfied exactly, which are very important to make your chapter be accepted by the publisher finally. Any format problem will prevent your chapter from being included into the book.
Please do format all your images in your chapter according to the “Images: A how-to guide” (Ref. 2) strictly. Note that All figures must be submitted as separate .tif files.
Please do provide 7-10 key terms with concise definitions in your own words (see details in Ref.1).
Please note that, as per IGI Global’s house style, the subhead divisions in your chapter should NOT be numbered. (see details in Ref. 1).
Please note that your references MUST strictly follow APA (American Psychological Association) style. They should be listed in alphabetical order. The order numbers are NOT needed (see details in Ref. 1).
Although there is no “magic” adequate number of references, your paper should be supported by at least 15-20 fully documented references.
Ref. 3 is a template for your formatting your chapters, please read it carefully.
After revising your chapter, please send all materials to me according to the list of “Chapter Author Checklist”. (Please print it, make signature, scan it and send the electronic to me. Also, please send me the original file filled). The following files are required (Ref. 4 includes all templates). Please put put all your files in one folder named WSN-CHAPTER-FINAL-XXX. (where “XXX” is your chapter ID, as well as the ones below.):
Chapter Author Checklist (the original filled file and the scanned copy, with names of “hofrauthorchecklist-XXX.doc” and “hofrauthorchecklist-XXX.jpg”).
An electronic copy of your chapter in Microsoft Word with index terms highlighted (with name “wsn-chapter-final-XXX.doc”).
A separate copies of all images in black and white, camera-ready format (In the subfolder “images”).
A biography of approximately 100-150 words for each author (with name “biography-XXX.doc”).
A signed copy of the “Author’s Warranty and Transfer of Copyright Agreement” (with name “handbook_of_research_copyright_agreement-XXX.pdf”).
A signed copy of the “Interview Release and Assignment Agreement” (if applicable) (with name “InterviewRelease-XXX.jpg”).
