题目:多虚拟机环境下磁盘碎片的整合问题

报告摘要:
磁盘碎片是指单个文件的数据或磁盘的空置待分配空间在硬件磁盘上是不连续的。在很多情况下磁盘碎片可以对系统的运行性能产生很大的影响。大多数操作系统都提供磁盘碎片的整合机制。在虚拟计算环境下,由于对客户操作系统与硬件磁盘之间增加了一层虚拟磁盘,硬件和虚拟磁盘上的文件和空置待分配空间的碎片不仅可能影响硬盘上文件的读写性能,而且可以增加虚拟机与虚拟机管理系统间的通信开销。在一个具有规模的多虚拟机计算环境下,各虚拟机对磁盘碎片整合的需求或整合的时机是不尽相同的,从而使得磁盘碎片的整合问题更加复杂化。多虚拟机环境下磁盘碎片的整合是华中科大服务计算与系统/集群与网络计算实验室和悉尼大学分布式与高性能计算中心正在进行合作研究的一个子课题。实际工作主要由华中科大的老师和学生着手进行。在此报告中我将对问题,目前的研究成果以及今后的研究作一个汇报。
报告人简介:
Dr. Bing Bing Zhou is an associate professor in School of Information Technologies at the University of Sydney, Australia (2003–present). He graduated in electronic engineering in 1982 from Nanjing Institute of Technology in China and
received his PhD in Computer Science in 1989 at Australian National University, Australia. Currently he is the Theme Leader for Distributed Computing Applications in Centre for Distributed and
High Performance Computing at the University of Sydney. Dr Zhou has published over 100 papers in international journals and conferences and received a number of research grants including five ARC Discovery Project grants from Australian Research Council. His current research interests are in the areas of distributed computing, high performance computing, algorithms and bioinformatics.
