报告摘要:
1、Services Computing & Facilitating the Sharing of Services-Based Scientific Capabilities
It has become increasingly common that scientists in various laboratories are developing highly specialized techniques to gather and analyze experimental data. The recently emerged Services Computing technology allows independent capabilities to be codified into modular software applications, accessible over the network: what are often called services. To integrate their findings, like-minded communities of scientists naturally begin to combine their services into higher-level workflows. However, although tools continue to improve, the sharing of service-based capabilities remains a significant challenge. This talk discusses our efforts of developing methods and tools that scientists can use to collaboratively find appropriate artifacts and obtain advice on their use.

2、Mobile Blood Donation Registration Service: A Case Study of Healthcare Applicatio
This talk presents a case study of adopting Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Health Level 7 (HL7) in the Hong Kong Red Cross to support blood transfusion services. Every time a blood donor attends a donation center, he/she must proceed through the registration process, requiring them to fill in the registration form, regardless of whether they are a first-time-donor. Based on some research studies, the registration process is a cumbersome and time consuming process which increases the drop-out rate of blood donors. The purposes of this research project are to optimize the process and minimize the drop-out rate of blood donors. Using the Web 2.0 and semantic Web technologies, the system includes a novel service which supports the privacy access control and security, in protecting the donors’ personal information provided throughout the blood donation process. The system is built on the mobile model of SOA and eXtensible Markup Language (XML) related security technologies. The system is currently being tested and studied in the Hong Kong Red Cross blood donation center. In addition, an empirical study of technology adoption is also conducted at the site to test the usability and feasibility of such a system from the blood donors’ perspectives.
